Vivo has announced the X300 Ultra, its latest flagship smartphone aimed squarely at mobile photography and video. Based on its camera hardware, it also appears to position itself as a strong alternative to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, particularly in terms of imaging capabilities.

The new model builds on Vivo’s ongoing partnership with Zeiss, featuring what the company calls its “Zeiss Master Lenses Collection,” a continuation of the branding used in previous high-end models.

A Triple-Camera System With Expandable Lenses

The X300 Ultra’s main selling point is its rear camera system, which includes three high-resolution sensors and support for optional add-on lenses.

Vivo has previously demonstrated accessories like the Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, which pushes the camera to a 400mm equivalent focal length. With additional digital cropping, the company claims this can extend to as much as 1600mm equivalent. A separate 200mm add-on lens—introduced alongside the previous generation—also remains compatible.

High-Resolution Sensors Across All Cameras

The primary camera uses a 200-megapixel Sony Lytia 901 sensor (1/1.12-type) paired with a 35mm equivalent f/1.9 lens. Vivo refers to this as its “Zeiss Documentary Camera,” leaning into the focal length’s popularity for street and everyday photography.

Alongside it is a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a Sony Lytia 818 (1/1.28-type) sensor and a 14mm equivalent lens.

The third camera is a 200-megapixel telephoto unit using a Samsung HP0 sensor (1/1.4-type). While smaller than the main sensor, it is still relatively large for a smartphone telephoto camera. Vivo says it includes optical stabilization rated at up to seven stops and improved autofocus performance over previous models.

Advanced Video Features and Color Pipeline

Video is another major focus. The X300 Ultra supports 4K recording at up to 120 frames per second with 10-bit Log capture and APV 422 encoding across all cameras. Vivo says its Log profile is compatible with ACES workflows for post-production.

The phone also introduces a new “Multi-Focal 4K Master Color Video” system, which applies color processing earlier in the imaging pipeline using RAW data. According to Vivo, this approach helps improve tonal transitions and overall image quality.

Additional video features include Dolby Vision HDR support, wireless microphone compatibility, and a built-in quad-microphone array.

For users looking for stylized output, Vivo includes film-inspired presets such as “Film Style” and “Film Look,” designed to emulate cinematic color grading, grain, and aspect ratios.

Flagship Hardware and Configurations

Beyond imaging, the X300 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, featuring high-performance CPU cores clocked up to 4.6GHz.

It includes a 6.8-inch 2K display with Zeiss color tuning and Dolby Vision support. The device is backed by a 6,600mAh battery, with support for 100W wired and 40W wireless charging, and runs OriginOS 6.

The phone will be available in Green, Silver, and Black, with multiple memory and storage configurations: 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB.

Pricing and Availability

The Vivo X300 Ultra is launching first in China, with a global release expected later this year. Pricing starts at 6,999 yuan (around $1,000), with higher-spec configurations reaching up to 8,999 yuan (approximately $1,300).

If availability expands globally as expected, the X300 Ultra could become one of the more accessible photography-focused smartphones outside the Chinese market.
