The Motorola Edge 70 Neo is expected to pack a 7,000 mAh battery into its colorful chassis.

With the Edge 70 Neo, Motorola is expected to launch an affordable mid-range smartphone soon that, according to the latest rumors, combines a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 with a 7,000 mAh battery. However, this latest rumor disputes the claim that it will feature a 200 MP main camera.

The first images of a smartphone believed to be the Motorola Edge 70 Neo surfaced back in August. Now, 91mobiles has obtained more details about the specifications of the successor to the Motorola Edge 60 Neo ($639 on Amazon). Surprisingly, the smartphone allegedly features a 50-megapixel main camera with a Sony LYT-710 sensor.

However, the inscription on the camera module in the leaked images pointed to a 200 MP camera. While the main camera specifications should still be treated with caution, many of the details from 91mobiles match earlier rumors. According to the report, the Motorola Edge 70 Neo features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 with four ARM Cortex-A720 performance cores and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. Motorola is reportedly planning to install a 32 MP selfie camera, but only pair the main camera with useless 2 MP sensors. This is quite surprising, given that the Edge 60 Neo featured a 13 MP ultrawide camera and a 10 MP telephoto camera, although such cost-cutting measures have become almost commonplace amid the DRAM crisis.

At least the battery is reportedly set to grow from 5,000 mAh to 7,000 mAh, with support for charging at up to 45 watts via USB-C. The larger battery will reportedly make the device considerably thicker and heavier, measuring 8.49 millimeters thick and weighing 204 grams. The chassis is said to carry only an IP64 rating, which would mean that, unlike its predecessor, the Motorola Edge 70 Neo would no longer be waterproof. Motorola is reportedly planning to offer the device with 6 GB to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB to 256 GB of flash storage – these would also be significant downgrades.
