Samsung was making great foldable phones years before Apple announced the iPhone Duo, and now one of the company’s most inventive devices is getting a major discount from an iconic wireless provider. Add a line with an eligible unlimited plan and trade in any device worth $95 or more, and AT&T will slash $1,200 off the price of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. Considering that the phone starts at a steep $1,899.99, I’ll take just about any deal I can get.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a foldable device with a unique passport-style design, innovative (and nearly imperceptible) center crease, and some of the best performance you can hope to find in a smartphone. Send AT&T any old device with a trade-in value of $95 or more and the carrier will hook you up with $1,200 off the Z Fold 8 when you add a line with an eligible data plan.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8: the future of the foldable is now
We called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 a ‘foldable revelation’ in our 9/10-star review, and it’s not hard to see why. The premium foldable sports a new passport-style design with two vibrant AMOLED displays, a nearly-invisible center crease, and long-lasting durability from Samsung’s proprietary Flex Titanium screen technology.
Under the hood, you get the ultra-efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC (the same chipset that powers the excellent Galaxy S26 Ultra), plus all-day battery life, great cameras, and 12GB of RAM straight out of the box. The premium foldable also comes with One UI 9 (Android 17) ready to go, in addition to seven years of OS and security upgrades guaranteed.
So what’s the catch?
You’ll need to process a trade-in and add a line with an eligible unlimited plan to get the full $1,200 discount from AT&T. Fortunately, the carrier is accepting any trade-in with a value of $95 or more, so reaching that eligibility level shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
That said, you’ll need to add a line with the AT&T Premium 2.0 plan (or higher) to enjoy the full savings, and these unlimited plans start at $100 per month for a single line. The good news is that you can drop that price considerably by adding multiple lines and using paperless billing.
The plans also come with a bunch of premium benefits to make up for the high cost, such as unlimited high-speed data, hotspot data, international coverage, and more.
It’s also worth mentioning that AT&T will still give you a $500 or $1,000 discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 when you sign up for a lesser unlimited plan, so it’s worth reading into the fine print to see exactly how much you can save.
Indeed, this deal may not be for everyone, but if you have something to trade in and you’re looking for a new wireless plan, AT&T might hook you up with a serious discount on one of the best foldable phones ever made. Why settle for the iPhone Duo when Samsung will give you an arguably better foldable experience for less?
