Buying a smartwatch can feel like a bit of a minefield. With so many options and varying levels of performance, where on earth do you start? Well, how about the 4.5-star Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, which is now on sale at Amazon for £319 (was £369).

Not only is it discounted by an impressive £50, but it’s also one of the very best smartwatches on the market at the moment. We gave it this rating because of the industry-leading Running coach feature with 160 plans and advanced health and sleep tracking, with everything packed into a seriously gorgeous design.

Today’s best Samsung Galaxy Watch deal

Our wearables editor, Matt Evans, knows exactly what makes a good smartwatch, and in his Galaxy Watch 8 review, he called Samsung’s offering a “triumph” and “unequivocally the best mainline Galaxy Watch in ages.” It would be difficult to be more positive than that.

Matt rated it 4.5 out of five stars, with the smartwatch only falling short of the highest rating because of its shorter battery life and fiddly Dynamic Lug system. Suffice to say, these negatives are not going to be game changers for most people.

We’re big fans of the AMOLED display that is sharp, clear, and able to handle very bright outdoor scenes. The watch also includes accurate GPS, run coaching, sleep tracking, and automatic workout detection. And let us not forget to mention the “Gemini assistant that is capable of completing complex tasks, a selection of useful new health features and a software redesign to go with its hardware updates.”
