Apple has announced that the Apple Sports app, introduced in 2024, is now available to download from the App Store in more than 170 countries and regions, following its expansion into over 90 new markets.
Apple is also making it easier for fans to follow the FIFA World Cup 2026, kicking off on June 11, by allowing them to explore tournament groupings and customize their scoreboards just by following the entire tournament or their favorite national teams in the Apple Sports app.
When you follow a team in the Apple Sports app, Live Activities are enabled and shown on your iPhone’s Lock Screen or Apple Watch. You can also add widgets to your iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Home Screens to track the FIFA World Cup 2026’s progress in real-time.

Additionally, Apple Sports app users can quickly switch to Apple TV with a single tap to find live matches on connected streaming services during the World Cup.
Here are some features designed by Apple for Apple Sports users to help them stay informed and engaged throughout the FIFA World Cup 2026:
- Tournament bracket view: The clean, scrollable view of matchups and results for each round allows fans to easily track a team’s progression from the group stage through their final match.
- Visual formations: Enhanced game cards feature visual formations for each team’s starting lineup to provide deeper tactical insight ahead of each match.
- One tap to Apple News: Apple News connects fans directly to comprehensive editorial coverage, including the latest headlines.
The Apple Sports app is free to use and is available for all iPhone models running iOS 17.2 or later. You can download it from here.
