We know that everything has been getting more expensive lately, but the prices of Ultra-class phones have gone too high for many who are interested in getting one.
In last week’s poll, there was a lot of interest in the Oppo Find X9 Ultra with two-thirds of voters showing interest in the device – but only half of those thought that they could afford it. And the X9 Ultra isn’t even the most expensive Ultra on the market, although it does cost more than most.
People are looking at trade-in bonuses, freebies like the Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit and other ways to try and justify the €1,700 price tag. Some are looking at other Ultra models – including the vivo X300 Ultra, which costs more – but those are in the minority.
The Oppo Find X9s finds itself in an odd spot – the poll results show that only a small percentage of voters are interested in the phone (though this fraction can grow with good reviews and a price cut). However, it’s not the similar Find X9 that is pulling people’s attention away.
The small Find X9s Pro proved to be a bigger threat – there might be more people interested in the mini flagship than in the larger X9s. Unfortunately for them, the X9s Pro will only be sold in China. An even bigger issue is that about a third of voters have just decided to look at other phones – even good reviews and deals won’t change their minds on the Oppo Find X9s.
Shortly after we posted the poll, Oppo announced that the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s will be launching in India on May 15, though we’re still waiting for official pricing info. The Find X9 is available for ₹75,000, while the Find X9 Pro sells for ₹110,000.
