The iPhone 18 was recently rumored to come with some downgrades to keep costs low, including a display material first used in the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022. However, it’s not all bad news for the iPhone 18, apparently.
According to a new report, the device will come fitted with 12GB of RAM. That’s up from 8GB on its predecessor, so it’s quite a jump, especially seeing as how we’re currently in the middle of a RAM pricing crisis thanks to AI data centers using up all of the production capacity.

The iPhone 18 is said to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 chipset, made on a 2nm process by TSMC. This process apparently delivers 15% better performance compared to 3nm, with no loss in power efficiency.
The bump to 12GB of RAM for the iPhone 18 has been rumored in the past, but at that point it was purported not to be a finalized decision. Now it might have been. Of course, with the iPhone 18 only expected to come out next spring, there’s plenty of time for more rumors about it to contradict this one, so stay tuned.
