Another smartphone is hitting the market shortly — the Honor X8e 4G, which is virtually identical to the Honor X7e Plus 4G released in August.
What Is the Honor X8e 4G
The most notable difference in this phone is the 108MP camera. This mid-range device was spotted on Honor’s Azerbaijan website. It is unusual to see such a high-resolution sensor in this price segment. However, the choice of chipset limits video recording to 1080p. It uses the classic Snapdragon 685 chipset.

The 6nm chipset includes Cortex-A73 and A53 processor cores, along with Adreno 610 graphics. It provides 4G-only connectivity (supporting dual nano-SIM). The device is also equipped with Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 4.2 (with LDAC, aptX HD, and LHDC 5.0 support), and NFC. It runs MagicOS 10 (based on Android 16) out of the box.
The Honor X8e 4G features a large 6.87-inch LCD display with a resolution of just 720 x 1592 pixels. It appears to be the same panel as the X7e Plus: the refresh rate is 120Hz, peak brightness hits 1020 nits, and a 5MP front camera is housed in the screen notch.

In Azerbaijan, one retailer is selling the device for AZN 820 ($480), while the Samsung Galaxy A08 4G costs AZN 590. Another retailer offers the X8e for AZN 688. This is only 17% more expensive than the A08 model, with the Honor price for the 6GB RAM/256GB storage version, while the Galaxy price is for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant.

As noted earlier, the X8e and X7e Plus are very similar, but there are nuances. The X8e has a 7700mAh battery with 45W Honor SuperCharge support. The X7e Plus has a slightly larger battery at 8100mAh. Despite this, the thickness (8.3mm) and weight (218g) are identical for both, suggesting the battery reduction might be an artificial limitation to meet regulatory standards often seen in Europe.
Durability and Features
Like its sibling, the X8e is known for high durability. The smartphone features IP68 (dust resistance, immersion protection), IP69 (resistance to high-pressure water jets), and IP69K (same, but with high-pressure hot water) ratings. It can withstand a full day in high-humidity and high-salinity environments. The device also operates at extreme temperatures from -30°C to +50°C. The display supports touch input under rain, and a special underwater mode is available in the camera app. The smartphone has received a 5-star drop resistance rating from SGS, surviving drops from 2.5 meters and is designed for at least 6 years of trouble-free operation.
