Samsung's One UI 9 update is causing Android Auto connection problems
We've been talking a lot about Samsung's One UI 9 update. If you own a Samsung phone, it's a download you definitely want to take advantage of. You're getting a refined, polished OS and new features we find extremely useful.
And each week, it's rolling out to more phones. Naturally, problems are bound to happen, no matter how much testing is done before a wide release. And apparently, some people running One UI 9 on their phones are having issues with Android Auto.
This is a big one
From users around the internet, it looks like One UI 9 causes connection issues when using Android Auto. That means random disconnects and the inability to connect at all (via Android Authority). Some are even reporting that there's now audio stuttering that's gotten worse after the update.
Now, this isn't isolated to just one Samsung model, as it appears to affect a wide range of handsets. So, if you've updated to One UI 9, and use Android Auto, we recommend keeping an eye out for strange behavior. Google is aware of the issue, as it responded to a submission on the Android Auto Help page, but it's unclear what will come of it.
Same old, same old
With any new updates, issues are bound to pop up at some point. With so many different devices running the new software, it's only a matter of time before someone does something that creates an issue.
With so many moving parts within an update, we're always surprised we don't see more problems. However, One UI 9 already had one major issue, which has now been fixed, so we hope that many more don't pop up over the next few months.
One UI 9 is a must
Android gets frequent updates each year, which can make them feel less impactful. However, One UI 9 brings a ton of things to explore, making it an absolute must for anyone with a Galaxy phone.
If you have a Samsung phone that was released over the past few years, the chances are high that it's getting the update. Of course, we have a full list of devices that are being supported. It's still rolling out, so not all devices have it yet.
Perhaps one of the biggest highlights of the new update is the Quick Settings customization. Sure, we've always had some form of making it personal, but this new update allows you to take things further, shrinking and expanding widgets to suit your needs.
If you don't want to dive in or are unsure, I'd highly recommend watching our deep dive into the subject. It will make you want to try it. It might even be better than what Google's doing with its Pixel line.
