Starting with the 2026 season, the broadcast rights holder for Formula 1 in the US is Apple, which is offering the competition through its Apple TV+ streaming service over there. Apple hasn’t officially declared that it wants to do a similar deal internationally, but it stands to reason that it might have at least looked at some of the biggest markets.
Unfortunately, three of those are now out of consideration since Sky has just renewed its agreements for broadcasting F1 in the UK, Ireland, and Italy. The contract has been renewed through 2032 in Italy and through 2034 in the UK and Ireland.
Sky was already the broadcaster in those markets, it just chose to renew its deal before it expired to avoid a bidding war with Apple or anyone else. The UK and Ireland contract extension is worth about $270 million each year, or about $1.35 billion over the life of the entire deal.
