Gaming on PC has recently become a very expensive hobby thanks to the sharp rise in RAM and GPU prices. Builds that were once considered entry-level are now selling at premium-grade prices. But right now at Best Buy, you can save almost $1,100 on the HP Omen 17 built with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 CPU, RTX 5070 graphics card, and 16GB of RAM.

The 17-inch IPS display gives you crisp 1440p resolution for better detailing and contrast over 1080p screens, as well as the ability to recreate up to 100% of the sRGB color spectrum for bolder, more lifelike images. You’ll also get a super-fast 240Hz refresh rate for smoother motion during fast-paced gameplay and cutscenes. Bluetooth connectivity lets you set up wireless peripherals like mice and headsets, but if you prefer to use your laptop’s speakers, the HP Omen 17 uses DTS:X Ultra and HyperX audio processing for cleaner sound.

The HP Omen 17 also supports Wi-Fi 6E for faster and more reliable wireless internet connectivity so you’re less likely to disconnect from your online games. With 16GB of RAM, you’ll have plenty of memory to tackle your favorite indie and triple-A titles. But if you want to add more down the line, the laptop supports up to 32GB via dual memory slots. You can even connect a second screen via USB-C for multitasking in programs like video and photo editors or web browsers while gaming.

How I rated this deal

With RAM and GPU prices going through the roof recently, it’s hard to find a solid laptop (gaming or otherwise) that isn’t also going to cost a fortune. Best Buy’s nearly 40% discount gives you an excellent deal on the HP Omen 17, built with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 CPU, 16GB of RAM, GeForce RTX 5070, and 1TB SSD. That’s why I gave this deal a 4/5 Editor’s rating.
