My favorite Black Friday VPN deals of 2025: Discounts for ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and more live now
2

It’s the Black Friday weekend, which means it’s still one of the best times of the year to invest in a virtual private network (VPN), as many providers have launched holiday sales.

VPNs are essential for protecting your online security and privacy. They mask your IP address, encrypt your online activity, and often include additional security features, such as password managers or ad blockers.

They have other benefits, too — you can use a VPN to change your IP location and access global streaming libraries, as well as avoid location-based online content restrictions. They can also be used while you’re away from home, making it safer if you have to use untrusted Wi-Fi hotspots.

Best of all, they can be subscribed to for only a few dollars a month. If you’re interested in trying out a VPN, now is the perfect time, as many subscriptions are at their lowest prices of the year.

I’ve reviewed and tested VPNs for years, and kept a close watch on prices and subscription changes to ensure that the deals I recommend offer value for money. I will be updating my Black Friday VPN deal recommendations as more providers launch subscription sales and incentives. Below, you will find my favorite VPN deals.

Best Black Friday VPN deals

  • Current price: $2.44
  • Original price: $3.49

My favorite VPN Black Friday deal is for an ExpressVPN subscription. This is the firm’s first real Black Friday deal and it’s the lowest price I’ve seen in my years of coverage for this fast, solid, and secure VPN service. The top deal is for the two-year contract, in which you pay $2.44/month, saving $30 over the length of the contract.

Surfshark is one of the most consistently affordable VPN services around, with its basic package currently on sale — before applying a coupon — for only $1.99/month on a two-year contract. However, my favorite deal is one tier above, Surfshark One, now priced at $2.19/month. What makes this deal great is the antivirus add-on, which costs only $0.20 extra per month.

To sweeten the deal, you are also given three months of free access.

Alternatively, consider Surfshark One+, which comes with a data removal service for $4.19/month.

At the time of writing, using the code REDDITSPECIAL will give you an extra $0.10/month off and four months of free access, but this may not last. Take away the existing sales coupon, input this code, and the price of the starter package will become $1.89/month, and Surfshark One+ will be $2.09/month.

Another great deal is for NordVPN, one of the fastest VPNs around with a large server network and robust security. This VPN is one of ZDNET’s favorites, especially for travel and streaming, and is typically priced at around $3.49/month.

However, NordVPN launched its Black Friday sale early this year, and you can now pay only $2.99/month on a two-year contract.

As noted by a Reddit user, however, applying the code FORUM gives you an extra month for free and drops the cost to $2.88/month.

We’ve also spotted a Black Friday deal for Proton VPN. If security is your top priority, consider this VPN — especially now that it’s available for only $2.49/month on a two-year contract. If you would prefer to try out this VPN for only one year, you can also opt to pay $3.99/month.

Proton VPN also offers a free plan, which we recommend, though it is very limited and you likely won’t enjoy the same speeds as paid subscribers.

Norton VPN is also on sale during Black Friday. We particularly like the look of Norton’s VPN Plus plan, now available with a 72% discount, bringing the cost down to $2.50 per month. This five-device bundle comes with a VPN, alongside an ad blocker, scam detection, password manager, and 10GB of cloud storage.

Alternatively, consider the basic plan for only $2.08/month, or Norton VPN Ultimate, now available for $3.33/month, which protects up to ten devices.

Hide.me is also heavily discounted for Black Friday. We like this VPN as a beginner-friendly option with fast connections, a clean user interface, and easy-to-understand settings.

It’s typically quite expensive and doesn’t stack up against many rivals regarding value for money, but now it’s only $2.07/month on a 29-month contract, and so it’s worth considering. Hide.me has also just added five months of free service as a bonus, which makes this deal even more appealing.

PrivadoVPN is a consistently cheap VPN service, and right now, you will only pay $1.11/month on a two-year contract, with three months free. While its antivirus is an expensive bolt-on for an additional $1.99/month (and so I believe Surfshark is a better deal), if you want one of the cheapest VPNs around, PrivadoVPN should be on your radar. It’s a reasonable VPN, but it doesn’t offer the same server network or speeds as its top competitors.

IPVanish is a reasonably fast VPN with a strong server network. While the price of this VPN, $2.19/month, has not changed on its two-year plans, IPVanish’s Black Friday deal is focused on perks. If you choose a two-year contract, you will be given 10GB of free eSIM data and 2TB of cloud storage.

If you want blanket VPN coverage for your home, consider using the Privacy Hero 2, a router pre-configured to work with a variety of VPNs — but one that works best with one of our favorites, NordVPN.

Normally, when you purchase this router, you receive a one-year subscription to NordVPN for free. However, during Black Friday, you will be given two years of free NordVPN access, including Threat Protection Pro and one year of free support.

When is Black Friday?

Black Friday used to just be on the last Friday of November each year. However, many retailers now offer their own sales over the course of a full week, and so you can expect sales to appear from around Monday, Nov. 24. Black Friday itself lands on Friday, Nov. 28, and leads up to Cyber Monday on Dec. 1.

Are VPNs really cheaper during Black Friday?

Yes, they can be. Or, at least, you will find upgraded services available for the same price that are only around during promotional events. The closer we get to Black Friday, the more likely VPN deals are to appear — especially as rival companies compete for your attention. You’ll be able to pick up a solid, secure VPN for as little as a few dollars per month.

How did we choose these Black Friday deals?

ZDNET only writes about deals that capture our own interest — devices and products we want, need, or would recommend not only to our readers, but to friends and family. Our experts look for deals at least 20% off (or hardly ever on sale), using established price-comparison tools and trackers to determine whether the deal is actually worth your time.

We also examine customer reviews and rely on our own hands-on experience with new tech to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products we’re recommending. The goal is to deliver the most accurate advice and to make you aware of price drops so you can shop smarter.
