If you’re tired of missing out on big hit HBO shows like The Last of Us, The White Lotus, and The Pitt because you don’t want to pay for another streaming service, this is your moment: HBO just cut the price of HBO Max to $2.99 a month for the first 12 months in a Black Friday deal, saving you 73% per month.

The fine print: This offer is only for HBO Max’s Basic With Ads plan, which lets you stream on two devices at once in full HD video resolution. If you don’t want ads, you’ll have to pay the full regular price for the Premium plan, which costs $22.99 per month, but also includes 4K Ultra HD streaming, Dolby Atmos immersive audio, four streams at once, and up to 100 downloads.
This offer is for both new and returning US-based HBO Max customers. You can redeem it through hbomax.com or your Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, or Xumo account, or for new HBO Max customers, via Amazon Fire. You’ll still have to pay any applicable taxes.

After the 12 months is up, your account will auto-renew at the current subscription price (which as of now is $10.99 per month). However, you can cancel before you’re charged full price by going to Settings > Subscription in your HBO Max account, or contacting your provider if you subscribe through a third-party. If you switch plans during the 12 month discount period, you’ll lose this offer.
If you’ve been thinking about signing up for HBO Max but have been hesitant due to the price, I’d highly recommend taking advantage of this HBO Max deal — it’s one of the best ones we’ve seen this year so far.
