Xiaomi tipped to be working on a wide-screen candybar smartphone
Several smartphone brands are reportedly working on wide-screen candybar phones inspired by the Huawei Pura X View. Now, a new rumor suggests that Xiaomi is also planning to enter the segment with its own offering.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, an Android smartphone maker is currently testing a wide-screen candybar phone. While the tipster did not explicitly name the company, the emoji used in the post hints that the device could be from Xiaomi.
The tipster also revealed that the phone will feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is unsurprising given its form factor.
Xiaomi's upcoming wide-screen smartphone is expected to feature a 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio, similar to Huawei’s Pura X View.
Oppo is also rumored to be developing a wide-screen smartphone under its Reno lineup. The device is tipped to feature a 6.35-inch display, an 8,000mAh battery, dual 200MP rear cameras, and the Dimensity 9600M chipset.
Other brands, including Doogee and Coolpad, have also joined the trend with wide-screen phones of their own. Huawei, meanwhile, is rumored to be preparing a more affordable wide-screen device under its new Osta sub-brand.
