According to a new report out of Korea, Apple is expected to exclusively source foldable screens from Samsung Display. These foldable OLED panels will likely be used in the company’s upcoming iPhone Fold.

Korean publication The Elec reports, citing industry sources, that Samsung Display will supply Apple with its foldable OLED panels for the next three years.

During the period, Apple will not be using foldable panels from other suppliers, the report stated. Samsung Display is said to begin production of the OLED foldable screens in the 2nd quarter with initial shipments expected to be around 3 million units.

The report adds that the foldable OLED panels will use CoE (Color-on-Encapsulation) technology, which places a color filter layer above the encapsulation layer and eliminates the need for a polarizer. The panel is also said to feature Samsung’s M14 luminescent material, similar to that used in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which could be branded as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, is reportedly set to be unveiled in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
