Thin and light phones are engineering marvels, but they often come with compromises in terms of cameras and battery capacity. Enter the Magic8 Pro Air, Honor’s answer to the iPhone Air and the slew of other slim Android phones that launched in recent months.

Honor’s approach is a little different, as the Magic8 Pro Air features Pro-grade specs including a triple camera setup with a dedicated periscope lens, a sizeable 5,500mAh battery and a screen that’s better suited for one-handed usability.
Honor Magic8 Pro is remarkably slim thanks to its redesigned chassis structure
Unlike its key competitors, the 8 Pro Air gets a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1,216 x 2,640px resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 6,000 nits peak local brightness. You also get a 50MP selfie cam and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

Magic8 Pro Air is just 6.1mm thin and 155 grams light. It features an aluminum frame and glass back design, and Honor also managed to fit stereo speakers as well as a physical Nano SIM slot that houses two cards. You can also use an eSIM if you prefer, and the device is IP68/IP69 water and dust resistant.
Around the back, we have a camera visor housing three sensors. The main one is a 23mm equivalent 50MP shooter with a 1/1.3-inch large sensor, ƒ/1.6 aperture and OIS. You also get a 74mm equivalent 64MP periscope telephoto with a 1/1.2-inch sensor, ƒ/2.6 aperture, 3.2x optical zoom and OIS. The third module is a 16mm equivalent 50MP ultrawide lens, which also doubles as a macro shooter.

Despite the slim profile, Magic8 Pro gets a 5,500mAh battery with silicon-carbon (Si-C) anode tech, 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The phone is equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 alongside up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The phone boots MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.
Honor Magic8 Pro Air comes in Shadow Black, Fairy Purple, Feather White, and Light Orange colors. Pricing starts at CNY 4,999 ($717) for the 12/256GB trim and goes up to CNY 5,999 ($860) for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model.

Open sales in China start on January 23. Honor did not detail plans for a global rollout just yet.
