OnePlus Open 2 was supposed to come this year but got cancelled, new rumor says

The original OnePlus Open came out in 2023, and it’s been crickets ever since. 2024 passed with no Open 2, 2025 too, but apparently the brand was planning to finally come out with its next foldable smartphone this year. However, that’s not happening anymore. The OnePlus Open 2 has been cancelled (again?).

That is, of course, if we choose to believe the latest rumor on the matter, the source of which claims the Open 2 was scheduled to launch around July and be “the big summer release” from OnePlus. Well, not anymore.

The phone was allegedly already in “advanced testing stages” when it was axed. We are talking about the international OnePlus Open 2. The same hardware will most likely launch in China (and maybe other markets too) as the Oppo Find N6. Although maybe the N6 has different cameras, since it’s long been rumored to pack a 200MP camera, and today’s rumor about the OnePlus Open 2 says that device was supposed to come with three 50MP shooters on the back.

Anyway, the OnePlus Open 2 apparently had “a sophisticated black faux leather finish” and “a chassis design reminiscent of the Huawei Mate X7”, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC at the helm, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, a 32MP selfie snapper on the 6.6-inch cover display, a 20MP selfie camera on the 8.12-inch folding screen, and a 6,000 mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. Both screens allegedly had 165Hz refresh rates.
