Motorola has been pretty inconsistent with flagship releases – its Edge series had an Ultra model in some years but not in others. Now it introduces the Signature line to serve the premium market and the first model in it is quite interesting.

The Motorola Signature is not an all out flagship, but it costs a good deal less than those – you can pick up a 12/512GB unit for £900/€1,000 in Europe. Something like the vivo X300 Pro will run you €400 more, even the OnePlus 15 costs €1,000.

The Signature is a fairly slim and light device, measuring 7.0mm and weighing 186g. While many don’t care about slim phones, the lightweight design is nice – it’s 47g lighter than an iPhone 17 Pro Max while having a larger 5,200mAh battery. Also, this is paired with fast 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, which is way above what Apple, Google and Samsung will offer this year.

The phone is equipped with a 6.8” LTPO display (165Hz, 1264p+) with an ultrasonic fingerprint reader underneath. It has a fast USB-C 3.1 Gen2 port with DisplayPort 1.4 to boot, so it can connect to external displays too.

Here are the two areas where the Signature doesn’t quite match top of the line flagships – the chipset and the camera. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (non-Elite), which slots in below last year’s Elite, to say nothing of the Elite Gen 5. It’s not a slow chip by any means, though.

As for the cameras, the phone has four 50MP modules. The main camera has a large 1/1.28” sensor (Sony LYT-828), there’s a 3x/71mm telephoto with a decently-sized 1/1.95” sensor and there’s a 122° ultra-wide camera too. The fourth module is the 21mm selfie camera with an autofocus f/2.0 lens. Not Ultra-grade cameras, but these are bigger sensors than what the OnePlus 15 has.

Motorola’s Hello UI is quite good and the Smart Connect (formerly Ready For) offers a desktop mode. The phone is set for 7 years of OS updates.

What do you think of the Motorola Signature – could this be your next phone?
