The Xiaomi 17 Ultra has finally been unveiled in China as the brand’s flagship phone. Alongside the standard model, the company also announced a 17 Ultra Leica edition, which gets a unique design and a mechanical zoom ring.

The 17 Ultra comes with a Leica branded triple rear camera setup with a primary 50MP 1-inch size Light Fusion 1050L sensor with support for LOFIC technology. This is paired with a 200MP Samsung HPE 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto unit that offers continuous optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus.

At the front, the phone features a flat 6.9-inch M10 AMOLED LTPO display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 2608 x 1200-pixel resolution, and up to 3,500-nit peak brightness. The display is protected by Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. You’ll also find a 50MP selfie camera on the front and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3.0 out-of-the-box with several AI features included.

Xiaomi has included a 6,800mAh silicon-carbon battery in the 17 Ultra. It supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with 22.5W wired reverse charging.


Other specs include an infrared sensor, dual SIM, Hi-Res audio, stereo speakers, quad-mic array, IP66/IP68/IP69 ratings, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and satellite communication. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in Black, Cool Smoke Purple, Starry Green, and White color options.

The Leica edition gets the same specs as the standard variant, but offers some extra features including a mechanical zoom ring that lets users adjust focal length, exposure, and white balance.

It features a dual-tone design inspired by Leica M-series cameras, along with a knurling pattern on the frame, and the red Leica logo on the back.

The 17 Ultra Leica edition also comes with special Leica Moment modes in a 3:2 aspect ratio, a security and encryption chip, and dual-satellite communication. The phone comes in a special box that includes a lens cap, a lanyard, a magnetic case, and a cleaning cloth.


The phone will be sold in Black and Off-White color options. Both variants will go on sale in China starting December 27 via the official Xiaomi online store.

Coming to pricing, the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in a 12GB/512GB option priced at CNY 6,999 ($995), a 16GB/512GB model that costs CNY 7,499 ($1,065), and a 16GB/1TB variant with a price tag of CNY 8,499 ($1,210).

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica edition is priced at CNY 7,999 ($1,140) for the 16GB/512GB model, and CNY 8,999 ($1,280) for the 16GB/1TB option.
