Back in December of 2024, the then upcoming Pixel 10 devices were rumored to be using a MediaTek modem, but that hasn’t happened and they’re still packing the same Samsung-made Exynos modem as their predecessors.

However, this may all change next year with the Pixel 11 devices, which are now rumored to – you guessed it – use a MediaTek modem, specifically the M90. This will be paired with Google’s Tensor G6 SoC, of course.

That is, if this rumor pans out. Do take it with a hefty dose of salt seeing as how Google’s switch to MediaTek has already been rumored once and hasn’t occurred.

Anyway, if it does happen, it will be interesting to see how the Pixel 11 phones will fare with connectivity compared to their predecessors. The M90 was unveiled in February, and supports up to 12Gbps peak downlink performance. It aligns with 3GPP Release 17 and 18, and supports both sub-6 5G and mmWave, along with 5G dual SIM dual-active with data. There’s also satellite connectivity built-in, so all in all it seems like a wonderful choice for Google’s next flagships. Let’s just wait and see if this rumor turns out to be true.
