We recently came across the news of Qualcomm deciding to change the name of its upcoming flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset to Snapdragon 8 Elite. And well, it’s confirmed now. The chipset will be officially known as Snapdragon 8 Elite. This new name sounds very similar to the recently announced Snapdragon X Elite for PCs. But anyway, Xiaomi has also confirmed it through its new teaser, which also reveals the launch date of its upcoming 15 series of devices.
Xiaomi 15 series is officially launching on October 13th
Xiaomi has finally confirmed that they are going to launch the Xiaomi 15 series on October 13th, 2024. This lineup, in particular, was among one of the most anticipated flagship launches of this year. The teaser also confirms that the series is going to be powered by the new Snapdragon flagship chipsets and that the chipset is indeed going to be renamed as Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Talking about the chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is going to be Qualcomm’s most advanced smartphone chipset yet. It will be based on new 3nm finfet technology. Reports also claim that the chipset will have 56% better GPU performance when compared with its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This is going to be a massive upgrade. One of the devices featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite was recently spotted on Geekbench with an impressive single-core test score of 3011 and a whopping multi-core test score of 9706. The chipset even managed to beat Apple’s latest offering, the A18 Pro. Geekbench also reveals that its base clock speed will be 3.53GHz and its peak clock speed will be 4.47GHz.
