Xiaomi is known as Apple of China and is known worldwide for its one of the best budget offerings. Xiaomi’s branding is spread across all segments starting from the budget to the highest-end premium flagship. And now, it has been reported that Xiaomi has managed to push Apple to become the 2nd largest smartphone brand globally for August 2024 in terms of sales.
Xiaomi managed to grab the No.2 smartphone brand position globally
Counterpoint, a market research agency, reports that Xiaomi has managed to achieve a really good number of sales in August 2024. On the other hand, Apple saw a steep decline in its market share and sales because of numerous reasons. One of them could be because of the new iPhone 16 series’ impending launch.
Because of all this, Xiaomi has managed to grab the title of 2nd largest smartphone brand in terms of sales for August 2024. Out of the top 10 best-selling devices, three were of Xiaomi. Xiaomi Redmi 13C 4G was the top-selling smartphone in the sub-150$ category. Redmi 13C 5G was at the 4th position, followed by Redmi A3 at 5th position. The 4G variant of Redmi 13C had a 4.1% market share, whereas the 5G variant had a 2.4% market share.
The Redmi 13C 5G was surprisingly the only top-selling 5G device under the $150 budget category. The Redmi A3 had a 2.4% market share.

Xiaomi’s new product strategy seems to be working well. Instead of launching multiple devices and confusing the users, the brand decided to launch only one top-of-the-line model per segment. However, some of them were re-launched under POCO’s branding. The brand’s premium devices such as Xiaomi 14 also did surprisingly well and helped the brand to attract a wider audience.
