Starburst: This may be the name of new Huawei smartphone sub-brand

Huawei Starburst

Huawei is expected to launch a new smartphone sub-brand, and a leaker predicts that new smartphones will launch under the brand “Starburst” instead of Starlight.

Weibo tipster BaiZeMountain shared an image with the Huawei logo, followed by the Starburst keyword below in camel case. Unlike other Huawei branding, the identity uses English letters instead of Chinese. Huawei did something similar with the Honor brand.

The text has a silver-white, metallic, 3D embossed texture with a reflective effect, against the light gray background. This reminds us of the Honor logo, which also had the same metallic look.

Huawei launches smartphones under different series: Pura, Mate, Nova, Enjoy, and Maimang, targeting different price tiers and user bases.

A new sub-brand will offer options, such as cost-effective models and experimental specs popularized by other brands to increase competition and demand.

The brand is rumored to be named “Starlight” since the first leak. Still, Huawei hasn’t commented on the sub-brand launch or its identity.

However, leaks about the first sub-brand phone have already surfaced. It will be a wide-screen device with the Pura X View-like appearance. It may use the Kirin 9020 chipset and come in three colors: black, white, and purple.

Its screen measures around 6.39 inches, with an LTPS panel and ultra-narrow 1.05mm thin bezels for a full-view experience. The device offers a 16:9.5 aspect ratio for viewing online content. The battery life is expected to be over 7000 mAh, with 100W charging support.

The rear camera system may include a 50MP wide-angle camera and a second-generation red maple color lens. The model may be named O1 Pro and come in four models: 12GB+512GB, 12GB+256GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB.

Early input suggests that the device will be fairly priced for customers amid rising memory costs.
