Huawei tests a phone with two 200MP cameras, could be Pura 100 Pro Max

Huawei has been testing a phone with two 200MP cameras, including a 200MP 1/1.3-inch wide-angle lens and a 200MP 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto lens, according to Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation.
The phone will support a teleconverter, external modules that extend the smartphone’s optical zoom, and Huawei has launched them with recent flagships, including the Huawei Mate 90 series.
These specs might belong to the Huawei brand, and the tipster affirmed that they’re designed for a mid-to-premium-range smartphone.
The Chinese tech maker usually opts for aggressive camera specs with the Pura lineup. For example, the 200MP telephoto camera and dual switchable periscope camera first debuted with the Pura series.

A 200MP main camera will improve quality with higher resolution, but Huawei uses a variable-aperture module over the main sensor to control light and depth.
Using a 200MP sensor below the module would complicate the design, as its aperture management might not be as handy as the 50MP lens on the Pura 90 Pro Max.
The company has been experimenting with a 200MP telephoto for the past two years and may have found a way to provide a stable variable-aperture solution with the main camera using a 200MP sensor.
In a separate case, the Pura 100 Pro Max might continue with a 50MP main camera, while the Pro variant debuts dual 200MP cameras.
The Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max comes with four cameras, including a 50MP 1/1.28-inch high dynamic range variable aperture (F1.4-F4.0) camera. It combines with a 40MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 200MP 1/1.28-inch telephoto camera, and a red maple color sensor for vibrant color reproduction.
The tipster predicts this 200MP Huawei phone could launch in 2027, which aligns with the Huawei Pura 100 series at the earliest. Meanwhile, the tech company hasn’t revealed such plans.
