Huawei Nova 17 series is expected to debut next month, featuring a new 200MP main camera and a 50MP zoom sensor. While the sub-flagship is in the making, a new leak has revealed its camera specifications, display size, and Kirin chip details.

Weibo leaker DigitalChatStation reported that the Huawei Nova 17 series is testing a new 200MP ultra-large main camera sensor. It will likely use a GCB0H5 primary shooter coupled with a SmartSens zoom lens.

GCB0H5 reportedly belongs to GalaxyCore (Chinese name: Geko Micro). It is a major supplier of CMOS imaging sensors for smartphones. GCB0H5 is one of the recent creations with a 200MP 1/1.56-inch high-resolution main camera sensor.

Infinix Note 70 series is rumored to use the same main camera sensor with OIS capabilities. It seems the Nova 17 series could be the next smartphone to adopt this lens.

The new main camera will improve light intake and deliver high-resolution images with balanced highlights and shadows. For comparison, the Nova 16 Pro and Ultra phones sport a 200MP RYYB ultra-large sensor, while the base model has a 50MP lens.

The tipster added that the Nova 17 phones will use a 50MP 1/2.5-inch telephoto camera (SC5000CS), supplied by SmartSens. It supports SFCPixel-SL tech and low-noise circuit layouts to reduce noise and provide cleaner night shots. Nova 17 series may also use a new-generation multispectral sensor.

As per the latest leak, the Nova 17 series is evaluating two screen sizes. The first is a 6.68-inch display, probably for the base versions, and the second measures 6.84 inches. It may show up with high-end variants like Pro and Ultra. Both screens support 1.5K resolution and deliver an immersive viewing experience.

For the chip, the tipster suggests a Kirin 8 series processor for the new Nova smartphones. Though the official name remains a secret. It is unclear if Huawei will use an optimized chip or introduce a new Kirin 8 mobile SoC.
