Honor 700 series phones can introduce a noteworthy zoom camera upgrade over the previous-generation models, says a new leak. The company is expected to make significant changes in the rear camera setup alongside using a 200mm teleconverter.

DigitalChatStation reveals that the Standard Honor 700 and Honor 700 Pro phones will support an upgraded periscope zoom camera. Both models may also adopt a 200mm external lens, reflecting Magic 9 series imaging features.

The zoom camera upgrade was exclusive to the Honor 600 Pro this year. It has a 50MP periscope telephoto camera sensor with an f/2.8 aperture, 80mm focal length, and PDAF and OIS capabilities. It also supports 3.5x optical zoom and AI Super Zoom 2.0.

Standard Honor 600 and Vitality Editions do not have a periscope lens. Instead, these digital phones rely on a 200MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide-angle lens with 30x digital zoom support.

However, the Honor 700 base model may feature a periscope telephoto with up to 3.5x zoom range. The digital zoom quality could range from 30x to 100x. A 200mm teleconverter lens setup will further elevate the zoom reach, preserving sharpness, vibrance, and textures for distant subjects.

Honor launched a 200mm thumb-sized teleconverter with the Magic 9 series in September this year. It will likely use the same imaging kit for the upcoming digital phones, advancing zoom photography for consumers.

Honor 700 Series

The tipster added that both the Honor 700 and Honor 700 Pro will equip the Snapdragon 8 Series chipsets this time. Hence, users will experience a notable performance boost over the previous-gen models.

The company will also integrate an upgraded rear screen on both devices and cutting-edge camera specifications, making them the strongest smartphones in the mid-range category. However, these details remain uncertain for the time being.

Honor hasn’t confirmed the launch time for the new digital lineup. Though it is expected to go official later this month.
