  • The Rambler feature in Gboard could soon remember word corrections and accurately recognize names in your contacts.
  • Other evidence we’ve spotted in the latest Gboard beta suggests Rambler could also let users import words.
  • We spotted early clues about some of these additions in an APK teardown a few months ago.

The latest beta of the Gboard app includes evidence that suggests Rambler, the Gemini-powered voice typing feature, could soon remember corrected words and names on your contacts list. We spotted clues of a dictionary feature being in the works back in August. It now looks like work on that tool has progressed further.

We dissected version 18.6.3.10 beta of Gboard to find a few new hints about where these tools would live. In its current form, Rambler makes sense of your voice to string together coherent sentences, while leaving out pauses or other filler words. However, it cannot save any corrections or learn from your vocabulary over time.

But based on the settings pages we’ve spotted in the latest beta, Rambler could get a new Remember corrected words toggle on the Gboard settings page. The corresponding text attached to this toggle reads: “Learn and use words you’ve corrected when voice typing with Rambler.”

There’s also a new Contact names toggle that looks at the contacts on your phone to accurately identify names during voice typing. But that’s not all.

We’re seeing a brand-new Voice correction list on the settings page where users can see the full list of corrected words. The three-dot menu at the top right shows an Import option to manually add words for Rambler to learn, while Export lets you share your collection of custom words with others.

Lastly, we’ve spotted the ability to erase every corrected/saved word from Rambler with a Clear all collected words button. Tapping this option opens up a dialog to confirm that you’re about to delete all past corrections from Rambler.

As with most early feature discoveries, it’s difficult to say when these new tools will roll out to Gboard. But since they have been in development for a few months, we suspect they may land on Google’s keyboard app imminently.

Rambler in Gboard currently remains exclusive to the Pixel 11 series, according to this support page. However, if the past is any indication, there’s some hope that Google could bring it to older devices, such as the Pixel 10 lineup.
