Three New iPads Rumored to Launch in First Half of 2027
After announcing a new iPad mini with an OLED display earlier this month, Apple plans to release new iPad Air, iPad Pro, and entry-level iPad models in the first half of 2027, according to the latest word from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
In his Power On newsletter today, Gurman said the next iPad Air will also feature an OLED display, while he expects the next iPad Pro to be equipped with a vapor chamber system that dissipates heat for improved sustained performance. Presumably, the next iPad Air will get an M5 chip, while the iPad Pro will move to the M6 chip.
As for the entry-level iPad 12, previously rumored features for the device include an A19 chip that enables Apple Intelligence support, an N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and Apple's power-efficient C1X modem in cellular models.

Despite knowing that the iPhone Duo would face "severe supply constraints" due to manufacturing challenges, Apple chose to begin iPhone Duo pre-orders on Friday instead of waiting until it had more inventory ready, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter today, he called this decision a "major mistake." "Let me cut to the chase: Apple made a major mistake here," he...
Apple has begun inviting selected members of the media to a product launch experience in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In a post on X, Gurman described the gathering as an "all-day product launch experience" for touchscreen MacBooks, a new iPad mini, and Macs equipped with M6 chips. Gurman previously reported that Apple would introduce the...

Apple Announces Bold New Plan to Make Every iPad Almost the One You Want
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA — Apple today previewed the next chapter of iPad, bringing customers an extraordinary combination of better screens, faster chips, and carefully distributed reasons to spend another $400.
The next iPad Air gains OLED, allowing customers to enjoy yesterday’s Pro feature at tomorrow’s Air price. Meanwhile, iPad Pro moves to M6 and introduces a vapor chamber, ensuring professional users can sustain unprecedented performance while futiley trying to select text in Safari.
“We asked ourselves how much power we could put into an iPad before we had to let it do more,” said an Apple spokesperson. “Fortunately, we haven’t found that limit.”
The entry-level iPad adds A19, Apple Intelligence, Wi-Fi 7, and an efficient cellular modem—because checking email should require an aerospace briefing.
With M5 in Air and M6 in Pro, choosing an iPad has never been easier: simply decide whether you need a beautiful screen, advanced cooling, or the money.
iPad. Your next computer is still going to be a Mac.
In my dream world, Apple would cull the iPad product line. There is no product line with less differentiation than the iPad. The worst thing to happen to the product line was introducing the Pro tier. It’s bottlenecked the progress of every iPad released since because, again, the differentiation is so limited for a product where they all provide the same experience so they’ve had to create artificial limitations to the progress of the product overall. It’s a hangover from Apple’s failed Mac stewardship during the mid 2010’s (what’s a computer?)
If I could play CEO for a day, I’d:
- Kill the iPad Air and iPad Pro. - Reduce the Apple Pencil product offering from 3 to 1. - Create a universal Pencil charging dock that allows for the single Apple Pencil to be compatible with any iPad, whether it has magnetic side charging or not. - Streamline back to iPad mini and iPad. Make the iPad in multiple sizes, with feature parity across sizes. - FaceID and ProMotion on all models.
Make both products as advanced as possible as is reasonable to offer affordable prices. No one needs a $2,000 iPad. Buy a MacBook.
Push the tech forward while maintaining prices. Stop pushing the ceiling upwards on a device with no real added capability.

Please, I beg you, always write such kind of post whenever a new device comes out!!
Serious question but are there any Apps even taking advantage of the M[X] chip when developers probably optimize for the lowest spec entry level iPad on an OS that works the same way no matter which iPad you buy?
