iPhone 18e isn't going to get a dramatic overhaul

The iPhone 18e will be a lot like the iPhone 17e with very few changes, with a switch from the notch to Dynamic Island probably not coming this time around.

Apple has a tendency to keep the general design of its products fairly static, with only occasional overhauls every couple of generations. For the iPhone 18e, it seems that will be the approach Apple will take once again.

In a post to Weibo early on November 3, serial leaker Fixed Focus Digital claims the iPhone 18e will be a continuation of the current design movement. It will share some of the manufacturing processes with the iPhone 18, but it won't feature many groundbreaking updates.

In the same post, the leaker adds that for the iPhone 17e, while rumors spread about it gaining the Dynamic Island at the top of the screen, they insisted that it did not. The iPhone 17e continues to use a notch.

The inclusion of that in the post may be considered a further hint about the iPhone 18e. It will probably hold on to the notch for one more generation at least.

Probable, but heard before

Weibo leakers tend to be less credible than other sources, in part due to regurgitating rumors from elsewhere. Among Weibo leakers, Fixed Focus Digital has a mixed track record.

That said, what is posted by Fixed Focus Digital sounds right, and is likely just an educated guess. It also helps that another more credible leaker posted more detail one week prior.

On October 27, another Weibo leaker gave more concrete specifications for the iPhone 18e, though again being quite similar to the iPhone 17e. That included the use of the same 6.12-inch 60Hz LTPS OLED screen as its predecessors.

The rest of the specifications were similarly predictable, including the 48-megapixel rear camera and A20 processor. There was also mention of a 24-megapixel selfie camera.
