Apple's HomeView Ships With Six-Month-Old Software

It is well known that Apple's new HomeView smart home hub was significantly delayed, and there is now yet another piece of evidence: the device will initially ship with six-month-old HomeView software version 26.5, according to AppleDB. When setting up the HomeView, users will be prompted to update to HomeView software version 27.2. The device launches Friday, November 13.

Not a big deal on its own, but I hope this wakes them up to the fact their software development process is very broken. They are consistently unable to ship their software in anything close to a finished state. Let's hope for better things in the future.

Thats why they need to slow down. We don't need a major system release every year.

Tiger to Leopard was almost 3 years, Leopard to Snow Leopard was 2 and Snow Leopard to Lion was about 2.

Now every year we're getting a major OS release across multiple devices. Its not sustainable. Do we need a new HomePod OS every year or tvOS?

Love Apple. Long story short, my original HomePods make me want to recreate the Office Space printer scene.

The conceptual solution this affords is not an actual problem I have. I wouldn’t want my notifications showing on a shared device where the big trick is the device can allegedly identify me.

HomePods struggle with setting timers. 10 years after release, they can still struggle with timers. Should your internet be out when you d set an alarm, that alarm will not go off as the HomePod depends on Internet for alarm time.

So this is an odd resolution device with a small screen, not so great sound, lack of features, and these have have clearly been delayed for Siri, Apples repeatedly fumbled voice assistant for now 15 years?

Were not off to a great start here John. You can smile and give off that Apple Camp Counselor Energy to an Apple level extreme. This tech enthusiast sees through the emperors non existent attempt to even claim they are wearing clothes.
