ZDNET’s key takeaways

  • Preorders are now open for the OnePlus 15.
  • The device ships at the end of December.
  • The price is $899, but there are discounts and preorder bonuses.

Your chance to scoop up one of the most intriguing new flagship phones is here. Less than a month after its debut, preorders are officially open for the OnePlus 15 — and there’s a pretty enticing preorder bonus.

If you’re not familiar, the OnePlus 15 is a high-end phone that packs a substantial feature set. ZDNET’s Kerry Wan test drove the device last month and called it “the definitive option for mobile gamers, power users, and tech enthusiasts,” specifically praising its AI features and battery life (which lasted more than a day even with heavy use).

Diving into actual specs, the device has a 7300mAh battery, always-on 120 FPS display, very slim bezels on all sides (1.15 mm), a 50MP main camera, an IP69  durability rating, and it runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

The price starts at $899.99 for the 12GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM base version, but you can upgrade to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of ROM for $100. There is a 5% discount available if you’re a verified student, though, which will save you about $45, plus a $100 cash back bonus when you purchase with a trade in and then the value of your trade in device (I priced the oldest Google Pixel phone I could, the Pixel 5, and the offer was $24).

The device is available in three colors: infinite black, ultra violet (a very light purple), and sand storm (a sandy tan).

OnePlus said the phone will ship on Dec. 23.

You do get to pick a gift if you preorder, with options like black or white OnePlus Buds Pro 3 (a $180 value), a magnetic charger, a magnetic case, or a OnePlus Watch 3 (a $300 value). At the time of this writing, though, the watch is out of stock and unavailable as a choice. It’s not clear if OnePlus will replenish supplies.
