I let Roborock's first self-cleaning roller mop vacuum clean my hardwood floors, and it delivered

My favorite feature on a robot vacuum is hands-down the roller mop. I bought my first Roborock seven years ago, and its microfiber mop pad was a game-changer for me as a busy mom with a toddler and baby, even if I had to wash it a couple of times during a cleaning session. 

Little did I know that I’d test Roborock’s first roller mop robot nearly a decade later.

I’ve been testing the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow for the past month, which introduces the SpiralFlow mopping feature to the market. This robot vacuum and mop performs like a flagship device, with 20,000Pa of suction, a self-washing roller mop, and even a shield that covers the mop when the robot goes over carpet. 

If you’ve used vacuum-and-mop combination robots, you’re familiar with the mop feature’s shortcomings. This is true whether they have a single mop pad, rotating pads, or self-washing features. Aside from the hands-free dock, the roller mop has been the biggest innovation in the robot vacuum market in recent years, making a huge difference in robot performance.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow, however, has a roller mop that continuously sprays clean water from a water tank inside the robot. At the same time, a scraper cleans the roller to remove dirty water, which is then kept in a separate wastewater tank in the robot.

This isn’t the first roller mop on the market — I’ve been testing this type of mop since 2024. But the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow is Roborock’s first dive into the roller mop system, and it’s a good one. As a leader in the robot vacuum market, this is a strong hint that Roborock is keeping up with the times, unlike other brands. 

After witnessing iRobot’s demise, largely attributed to its failure to keep its hardware competitive, it’s great to see other brands keeping up with innovation. While Roborock has been a dominant force in the robot vacuum market in recent years, companies like Ecovacs, Dreame, and Eufy have been trendsetters. 

While I was testing the Eufy S1 Pro Omni with a roller mop in 2024, Roborock didn’t even add rotating mop pads to its flagship robot until the Saros 10R in 2025, instead keeping its vibrating mop pad. This was even if the Qrevo series has featured rotating mop pads for a couple of years.

Don’t get me wrong — Roborock is one of the biggest innovators on the market. It’s the company that brought us the Saros Z70’s mechanical arm and the Saros Rover’s leg architecture, after all. After testing the Curv 2 Flow, however, I get the impression that Roborock doesn’t keep up with the Joneses just for the sake of it. Instead, it only releases a market trend when it’s perfected it.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow’s mop roller is one of the best — if not the best– I’ve tested so far. It features 15N of downward pressure, which is over 3lbs to remove spills and stains; the same as the new Eufy Omni S2. The Curv 2’s roller mop is also 1cm longer than the new Ecovacs Deebot X12, which was just announced at CES 2026.

Sending the robot out to vacuum and mop my home resulted in some of the cleanest hardwood floors I’ve seen a robot leave behind. My dog sheds a ton, but the robot didn’t have issues tackling his fur. Pet hair is easily removed with the dual brush rollers and strong suction, even on rugs. And I loved that instead of just lifting the mop, the robot also automatically covers it when it goes over carpet to keep it dry.

I tested the robot to clean up wet spills by sending it out to mop only, and I was glad to see it handle everything I put down — literally. I tried the usual: soy sauce and coffee, then stepped it up with milk and juice, yet the robot never left behind anything, not even sticky residue after the floor dried. 

ZDNET’s buying advice

Thanks to its top-performing roller mop, I’d recommend the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow for homes with mostly hard floors, whether it’s hardwood, tile, or vinyl plank. Its strong suction power, dual roller brushes, and obstacle avoidance make it a good candidate for homes with pets, while its mopping features and cleaning power make it perfect for homes with kids. 

Priced at $999, the Curv 2 Flow isn’t the most affordable robot, but it’s certainly not flagship-priced, which would be closer to the $1,500 mark. But for what it achieves. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s serious about getting their floors cleaned by a robot.
