Xiaomi 17 Max arrives with 200MP main cam and 8,000 mAh Si-C battery

The fourth member in the Xiaomi 17 series is here, and it brings the Max moniker. The Xiaomi 17 Max is the less flashy sibling of the 17 Pro Max, omitting the secondary rear screen and opting for a higher resolution 200MP main cam while also housing a larger 8,000 mAh Si/C battery.

According to Xiaomi, the 17 Max should be good for over 2 days of normal usage with the battery rated to retain up to 80% of its charge even after 1,600 charging cycles, which is over 4 years of daily usage. When you do need to recharge, you can do so at up to 100W speeds via cable and 50W wirelessly. The 17 Max can also provide up to 22.5W reverse wired charging for other devices.

Under the hood, the 17 Max is equipped with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

True to its Max naming, the 17 Max gets a sizeable 6.9-inch AMOLED display with 2,608 × 1,200px resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is rated at up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and features a 32MP selfie cam inside the punch hole cutout and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

Around the back, we have the aforementioned 200MP main cam, equipped with Samsung’s HP9 sensor. It supports up to 13.5EV dynamic range, an ƒ/1.65 aperture and OIS. It is joined by a 50MP 3x telephoto lens, which also does macro photography. The third and final shooter is a 17mm equivalent 50MP ultrawide.

The software side is covered by HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, and the phone features full IP68 and IP69 ingress protection.

Xiaomi 17 Max comes in black, white and blue colors. Pricing in China for the 12/256GB trim starts at CNY 4,799 ($705/€609 converted) and goes up to CNY 5,799 ($853/€735 converted) for the 16/512GB trim.
