Oppo’s top-tier Find X series flagship finally goes global. The Oppo Find X9 Ultra steps onto the global arena and helps nurture a growing Ultra competition, and it does so at a crucial moment – right when vivo’s X300 Ultra is also about to launch globally.
The Find X9 Ultra is also rivaled by the already popular Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra among “Western” users and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. And just like all Ultras, Oppo’s flagship aims to be the best alternative to your DSLR.
What makes the cameraphone competition a tad more interesting this year is the unique approach each company has. The vivo X300 Ultra sticks to a more traditional setting with its cameras, but with more advanced gimbal stabilization. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, on the other hand, implements variable optical zoom, while the Find X9 Ultra offers two telephoto units, one with a huge 200MP sensor and 3x optical zoom, allowing near-lossless crop quality, and another 50MP shooter takes over from 10x zoom and beyond.

A notable change from last year’s X8 Ultra model is the main camera, which now uses Sony’s latest 200MP LYT-901, 1/1.12″ sensor. Not the same as the one used for the 3x periscope telephoto camera, though.
The front-facing camera also gets an upgrade, from 32MP to 50MP, again with autofocus.
The Find X9 Ultra’s upgrades go far beyond just the camera hardware. It has a new camera-centric design, incorporating vegan leather and metal, a faster 144Hz display, a new and more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a beefier 7,050 mAh battery, up from 6,100 mAh.
The charging capabilities haven’t changed – 100W wired charging, 50W wireless, both proprietary, of course.
On paper, the Find X9 Ultra does sound like it could be one of the best, if not the best cameraphone on the market. But even if it turns out to be so, it’s still paramount for its success to ace the rest of the all-important smartphone aspects such as display, battery life, charging, and speaker quality. But first, an unboxing is due.
Unboxing the Oppo Find X9 Ultra
The handset we received is a European unit that came without a charger, just the USB-A to USB-C cable (along with a USB-A to USB-C adapter), which is used for charging and data transfer. So, as is usually the case for European consumers, you would have to buy a compatible 100W SuperVOOC charger to take advantage of the fast charging capabilities.
Other markets will probably get the charger included.
