In addition to the X300 Ultra camera flagship, vivo is also introducing the X300s today – this one fills a gap between the small 6.3” X300 (CNY 4,600 for a 12/256GB model) and the large-but-pricey 6.78” X300 Pro (CNY 5,600 for a 12/256GB phone).
The vivo X300s has a starting price of CNY 5,000 (there’s a more detailed breakdown below) and features a 6.78” 144Hz OLED display with 1,260 x 2,800px resolution (20:9) and 10-bit colors. It’s an LTPO panel (BOE Q10 Plus), which makes it nearly identical to the Pro display (it’s missing Dolby Vision, but that’s about it).
The rear camera is what really sets the X300s apart from the X300 Pro. It features a 200MP main camera (f/1.68 Zeiss lens), a 50MP telephoto (f/2.57 Zeiss APO lens) and a 50MP ultra-wide (f/2.0 Zeiss lens). The selfie camera has a 50MP sensor (f/2.0).
This flips things around compared to the Pro, which has a 50MP main and 200MP telephoto instead. More importantly, the X300s uses smaller sensors. The main camera has a 200MP 1/1.4” Samsung HPB sensor, compared to the 50MP 1/1.28” Sony Lytia 828 of the Pro. To further put things in perspective, the HPB sensor that is in the X300s main camera is also featured in X300 Pro’s telephoto camera, while X300s’s tele camera has a much smaller 50MP 1/1.95” Sony Lytia 602.

The ultra-wide and selfie cameras on both phones are the same – they all use the 50MP 1/2.76” Samsung JN1 and f/2.0 lenses with autofocus. The selfie cameras have fairly wide 92° FoV.
Last year, we tested a vivo X300 Pro Photographer Kit, which used a teleconverter lens to extend the phone’s zoom range. The new Ultra has a Photographer Kit too, of course, and so does the X300s – the Zeiss G2 teleconverter lens brings the equivalent of 200mm focal length. The kit comes with a dedicated case and a mounting plate too. Do check the prices below before you decide whether to get the kit.

Moving on from the cameras, the vivo X300s is powered by the same Dimensity 9500 as the X300 Pro. It has a large vapor chamber and a graphite sheet to spread the heat out for better sustained performance.
The MediaTek chipset is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X quad-channel RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It is assisted by the familiar V3+ imaging chip for camera-related workloads.
Inside the phone is a massive 7,100mAh fourth-gen Si/C battery (26.56Wh), making it slightly larger than the Pro’s 7,000mAh. Of course, that was the Chinese model – some Pro variants were sold with a 6,600mAh battery. Anyway, the X300s supports 90W wired and 40W wireless charging.
The phone has symmetrical 1511 dual speakers and a customized vibration motor for haptic feedback. It’s a powerful motor rated at 1.1Grms (this is a measurement of vibration intensity) and just 40ms start-stop time.
Like the vivo X200s from last year, the new model is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance. And it has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. One potentially important upgrade on the new model is the USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port. The X200s had a 6.67” display, a Dimensity 9400+ chipset, a 6,200mAh battery and a USB-C 2.0 port. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7 (be, dual-band), Bluetooth 5.4 (with aptX), NFC and dual-band satellite positioning support.
For now, the vivo X300s is available for pre-order only in China – open sales will begin on April 3 (Friday). You can have it in Titanium Black, Silver, Dream Core Purple or Film Green.

As promised, here is a pricing breakdown. We’re including a conversion to USD for context, but keep in mind that vivo hasn’t said anything about global availability. The X200s never became available globally, but then neither did the X200 Ultra. Things may be changing, though. In case you missed the good news, the X300 Ultra will be available globally soon.
