Motorola skipped a generation in 2025, but the Moto G Play is back in 2026 – meet the aptly named Moto G Play (2026).
It came out alongside the Moto G (2026) in November and shares most of its specs with it – the screen, the chipset, and the battery capacity are all the same. Where they differ is in the storage – 128GB for the G, 64GB for the G Play; the charging speed is 30W on the Moto G (2026) and 18W on the Play (2026).
You also get better cameras on the Moto G (2026) – 50MP main vs 32MP, a second 2MP macro, and a high-res 32MP selfie vs 8MP on the Moto G Play (2026).
The Moto G Play (2026) ships in just one color and finish – Pantone Tapestry. It’s a playful blue color that we like. It’s matched with a cyan-accented UI.
The phone has the now-classic Moto leather-like back panel, which feels nice to touch. The cost-effectiveness shines through in the plastic frame, but it doesn’t feel cheap.
Like the Moto G (2026) and the Moto G Power (2026), you get a single USB cable in the box.
