Google has made some of its Gemini 3-based AI tools free in Gmail. AI Overviews and tools like Smart Replies and Help Me Write were only available for users with an AI subscription (Google AI Plus or Ultra), but no longer.
AI Inbox filters out the clutter in your inbox and gives you a briefing with quick highlights. It also sums up those long Reply to All emails, which is very handy.
Help Me Write is just what it sounds like – you can give Gemini a prompt of what you want to write, and it will do the rest. You can also refine specific parts of the generated messages. Suggested Replies are also self-explanatory – they’re an update to Smart Replies. Gemini will take into account the context of your conversation and also match your writing tone in the suggested reply.
These features will roll out to Gmail users starting in the US and in English. They’ll roll out for more regions and in more languages in the coming months.
