Today TCL has officially unveiled the Note A1 NxtPaper, a digital note taking device that’s aiming to compete against the ReMarkable Paper Pro and even the Kindle Scribe.
TCL’s device has an 8,000 mAh battery with “long standby” and support for 33W wired charging, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and an 11.5-inch 2200×1440 NxtPaper Pure display with 120Hz refresh rate, 300-nit peak brightness, certified eye comfort, and paper-like reflection-free clarity. It has adaptive brightness too for reduced eye strain in any ambient lighting conditions. It’s powered by MediaTek’s Helio G100 SoC and has a 13MP rear camera, two speakers, and eight mics.
It comes with the T-Pen Pro, a dual-tip stylus with eraser, 8,192 pressure levels, and under 5ms latency. It’s certified for “pencil-like writing” and “replicates the resistance and texture of real paper”, according to the official press release.
The TCL Note A1 comes with integrated AI tools like AI Rewrite, Writing Assist, and Inspiration Space (which organizes ideas and content for “effortless creativity”). You can also expect real-time transcription and translation, as well as automated meeting summaries.
The device is 5.5mm thin, has an aluminum unibody construction, and weighs 500g. Optional accessories include a flip case and a keyboard case. It’s priced at $549 and is expected to ship in Europe, North America, and APAC starting at the end of February.
