More Poco M8 Pro details leak, it seems to be a rebranded Redmi

Poco is once again rumored to unveil the M8 Pro in January, and today a new rumor from a tipster over on X claims to shed more light on what we should expect from the device. According to this source, the Poco M8 Pro will be identical to the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+ in every way bar one.

The key difference will be in the camera department, where, the tipster says, “Poco swaps the 200MP 4x optical zoom periscope telephoto camera for a 50MP main camera on the rear”. That doesn’t make a lot of sense – how can you replace a telephoto camera with a main camera?

So we’re not sure what to make of that – is the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ really going to have a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom? We’d call that rather unlikely. But, that bit of confusion aside, it looks like the Poco M8 Pro will have a 50MP main snapper on its back.

It’s also said to boast a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with “1.5K” resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and will run Android 15 with HyperOS 2 on top. This is incredibly disappointing seeing as how Android 16 has been out since June and Xiaomi is already updating its phones to HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

Anyway, the Poco M8 Pro is allegedly going to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. Along with the 50MP main camera, on the rear will be an 8MP ultrawide, while for selfies there will be a 32MP snapper.

The phone has a 6,500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, an IR blaster, NFC, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
