Even solid hardware can still have problems when the software isn’t tuned properly. We’ve seen this many times over the past decade, affecting phones, smart home products, tablets, computers, and even smartwatches. And the worst thing about all of this is that it can all change overnight.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but we still hate to see it, but we’re now hearing from Reddit users that the Pixel Watch is seeing heavy battery declines (via Android Authority). What’s surprising is that this is affecting all Pixel Watch versions, models 2 through 5.

A pretty big deal

So, as you can imagine, this isn’t just a small problem for one user, but a problem for multiple users across multiple generations of the device. Now, it’s hard to say exactly what the problem is, but folks are experiencing varying battery life throughout the day and even at night.

While Pixel Watches aren’t really known for having stellar battery life, they should last at least 24 hours for most people. Again, it’s hard to say why this is happening since people are only sharing their experiences. On the other end, some folks say they don’t have any issues with their Pixel Watches.

Naturally, we’ve reached out to Google to see if they can provide some information. We’ll share any news if we get a response. But if you’re someone who’s experiencing this, you can always try rebooting your watch. The other, more drastic option is to restart things from scratch with a factory reset.

Again, these aren’t guaranteed fixes, so you’ll just have to try them and see if they work for you.

Nothing new

While we hate to see this happen, it’s been an issue with the Pixel Watch in the past. The most recent battery drain issue we reported happened in 2024. A bad update was released for the Pixel Watch, and people experienced severe battery drain.

At that time, like this one, it was hard to pinpoint exactly what caused the issue. Eventually, there was an update that got things squared away, but it was a pain for users back then, and it’s going to be a pain for users now.

Of course, we always recommend checking your settings if you’re seeing less than optimal battery life. Sometimes a small setting change can make all the difference. If you want some other battery extending tips for the Pixel Watch, we’ve got those as well.
