Whether you’re looking to upgrade your current Apple device or make the switch to iOS, acquiring a new iPhone can be expensive. But right now at Verizon, new Unlimited Ultimate customers can get an iPhone 17 Pro Max for free.

Also: I compared the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max: Here’s which one to buy

While the 17 Pro Max is available with internal storage up to 2TB, the only model included in this deal is the 256GB option. However, that’s still plenty of space for your most frequently used apps, as well as thousands of photos, videos, and other important files. You’ll also get the impressive 39-hour battery life, Super Retina XDR display, and 48MP Fusion camera system. Choose between three colors (Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, or Silver) to showcase your personal style.

Review: I’ve got one big reason to recommend a year-over-year upgrade to Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max

To take advantage of this deal, new Verizon customers must sign up for the Unlimited Ultimate phone plan, which starts at $50 per month and includes 5G LTE calling, unlimited mobile hotspot data, and international calling. If you act now, you can also lock in a 3-year price guarantee so there won’t be any surprise bills. Once you pay the $40 activation fee, the price of the 17 Pro Max will be credited to your account over 36 months; however, if you cancel or change your phone plan, you’ll be responsible for paying off the remaining retail price of your phone.

How I rated this deal

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is a premium-grade smartphone with a corresponding high retail price, so finding a Verizon deal that lets you get one practically for free is a welcome relief for the budget. While existing Verizon customers are not eligible, new Ultimate Unlimited accounts will only need to pay a one-time $40 activation fee for a brand-new 17 Pro Max. That’s why I gave this deal a 5/5 Editor’s rating.
