Before you get too excited, nothing is confirmed as of yet. We only recently learned about the Samsung Exynos 2600 chip – the first to be made on a 2nm process. Said chip is rumored to power the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 and potentially the S26 family in at least one country. Back when the Exynos 2600 was unveiled, Samsung was suspiciously silent about its modem. Now details have started coming in about an Exynos Modem 5410, which could be a part of the Exynos 2600 package.

The Exynos Modem 5410 integrates LTE DTC, NB IoT NTN, and NR NTN on a single chip. NB IoT NTN, or NarrowBand Internet of Things Non-Terrestrial Networks, is at the lower end of the communication spectrum. It allows for very sparse data throughput, like location data or text transmission, but does so reliably even across deserts or oceans. Samsung says this portion is certified by Skylo.

LTE DTC, short for Long Term Evolution Direct to Cell, is arguably the star attraction here since it promises extended satellite communication capabilities like voice. And last but not least, there is NR NTN, short for New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks, which promises even better data throughput and could enable things like satellite video calls in the future.

Again, we don’t have any confirmation yet that the Exynos Modem 5410 is coming to the Galaxy S26 series, but we do know that it is positioned as one of, if not the most, premium of the company’s modems, made on an advanced 4nm EUV process. It is based on the 3GPP Release 17 standard, supports 5G NR dual connectivity across FR1 sub 6GHz and FR2 mmWave, and lists peak download throughput up to 14.79Gbps.

Bottom line: If the Galaxy S26 family comes out with advanced satellite connectivity, we know the first place to start looking for potential details is likely the Exynos Modem 5410.
