This is a rather interesting development for sure, but for whatever reason, Samsung has already shipped an update containing Android’s May security patches to the Galaxy A55 and is now doing the same for the Galaxy A54. Meanwhile, this author’s personal Galaxy S26 Ultra is still running patches from April 5 as of writing this article.

We snooped around in the changelog for the update just out of curiosity. Perhaps something in there would simply be more relevant in some way to the midrange Galaxy A5x family? That doesn’t appear to be the case. The May patches address two critical vulnerabilities: one Elevation of Privilege (EoP) issue with the Android Kernel and one Remote Code Execution (RCE) problem related to Android’s wireless ADB debugging interface. Both broad issues could pretty much affect any device. Beyond that, the patch addresses 28 high-severity issues and 6 moderate-level ones. In case you were wondering, that’s not an excessive number of bugs or anything.
The update for the Galaxy A54 carries the build number A546EXXSJEZE5 and is pretty lightweight at around 286.79MB. Current reports indicate that the staged rollout has reached some Asian and Middle Eastern countries so far. Notably, India and Saudi Arabia are the first to get it.
