With the World Cup 2026 fast approaching, there’s no better time to upgrade your TV, whether it’s for a bigger screen, better picture quality or faster performance. Thankfully, you don’t need to break the bank to get a TV with all of this.
As TechRadar’s TV reviewer, I’ve picked four models that I think will tick all the boxes. Not only are my selections some of the best TVs on the market, but they’re all under $1,000 for 65-inch and above right now.
TCL QM6K
The TCL QM6K is the entry-level mini-LED in TCL’s 2025 TV lineup. But even if it’s entry-level in price, its performance suggests of a more premium TV.
I’ve personally tested the TCL C6K (the UK equivalent to the QM6K), so I know what this range can do. It delivers brilliant colors, solid brightness and, with a bit of tweaking, good motion handling that will make it perfect for all the games during the World Cup. Its halo control feature also limits blooming for a more balanced image and it even has good viewing angles — something mini-LED can struggle with.
It’s not just sports and movies where the QM6K shines, though. It has all the gaming features you could need too, with 4K 144Hz, Dolby Vision gaming and FreeSync Premium Pro all supported.
Hisense U75QG
The Hisense U75QG’s key strength is its impressive brightness. With a measured peak HDR brightness of 3,372 nits and 887 nits fullscreen HDR brightness, the U75QG is a seriously vivid TV at this price. This is ideal when watching daytime sports, like soccer, as TV’s with high brightness can limit the pesky reflections you’re likely to experience if the sun is beaming in.
Aside from brightness, the U75Q also delivers strong contrast with minimal blooming, perfect for space movies such as Gravity. On top of that, this model delivers strong color accuracy right out of the box.
The U75Q is also a gaming powerhouse. Not only does it have four HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K 165Hz, FreeSync Premium Pro and Dolby Vision gaming, but it also boasts a 9.8ms input lag time for smooth performance: up there with the best gaming TVs.
TCL QM8K
Described in its official review as ‘TCL’s best mini-LED TV yet,’ the TCL QM8K is a seriously impressive TV. Not only does it deliver excellent picture quality and a near-full set of gaming features, but it’s also very-well priced.
I’ve tested the TCL C8K (UK equivalent of the QM8K) and I was blown away by it. The picture quality of the 8-series is contrast-rich, with stunning color reproduction. Its high brightness is useful for daytime viewing and with an ultra-wide angle viewing feature, it’s great for large groups too.
With 4K 144Hz, FreeSync Premium Pro, Dolby Vision gaming all supported, the QM8K is also an awesome option for gamers.
LG B5
The LG B5 is one of the best budget OLED TVs you can buy. While its brightness isn’t as high as step-up OLEDs, the B5 still offers the detailed, gorgeous picture quality you’d expect from an OLED, with the performance to match.
The B5 was one of my favorite OLED TVs of 2025. I was impressed with its display, which serves up punchy, accurate colors, powerful contrast and razor-sharp performance. It’s not as bright as the other mini-LEDs I’ve suggested, but its motion handling is smooth regardless of what’s on screen, making it a fantastic option for the World Cup.
It also delivers a full suite of gaming features, including four HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K 120Hz, FreeSync and G-Sync, HGiG, Dolby Vision gaming and ALLM. As an added bonus, it has an ultra-low 9.1ms input lag time for smooth gaming.
